At Overtime Athletics, your child’s safety is our number 1 priority! We work hard every day to ensure that our programs are not only FUN but also the safest in town. OTA has developed a six-pronged approach to address this important issue. Enrichment programs like Overtime Athletics extends the school day for your children and research has shown the extensive benefits of keeping your children engaged in structured activities that keep them healthy. What are the 6 main concepts?

Safety:

  1. Instructors

  2. Curriculum

  3. Equipment

  4. Attendance – Dismissal

  5. Discipline Policy

  6. Insurance

Instructors

  • All OTA employees have been submitted to an extensive background check and we work with each individual school to make sure all district policies are met.

  • Each employee must go through a rigorous training process and submit continued training exercises throughout their first year of employment.

  • All coaches must also “Shadow” a veteran employee before they run programs on their own.

  • OTA staffs programs with a strict 10:1 ratio.

  • OTA Coaches show up at least 15 minutes early to every program.

Curriculum:

  • OTA has built a tried and true curriculum with the best games and activities over their 14-year existence.

  • Skills/Drills/Games are tailored to every grade level – From Kindergarten to 5th Grade and above.

  • No programming day is the same to ensure your children are never bored.

Equipment:

  • OTA works exclusively with Champion Sports.

  • All equipment is age-appropriate.

  • Equipment is inspected by instructors before each program to ensure safety.

Attendance – Dismissal

  • All OTA programs will have hard-copies of rosters – making sure your child is in the right place.

  • Coaches cross reference absent students with the on-site coordinators or front office before the program starts.

  • Parents must sign their children out of every class or adhere to any school policy or procedure.

Discipline Policy

  • All Overtime Athletics programs are designed to be FUN and safe.

  • Students will be reminded of the 5 OTA rules each session date (Listen to the coaches, No touching one another, Not using the equipment w/o permission, Not leaving the programming area w/o permission, and “Be Nice, Be Kind or Be Gone!”

Over the past 13 years Chris and I have built, grown and managed 14 Overtime Athletics offices nationwide, working with more than 500 elementary schools and 25,000 children annually. The OTA concept has progressed over the years and currently includes after school programs, summer camps, vacation camps, birthday parties, leagues, clinics and special programming. Based upon its enormous success, we have jumped into the world of Franchising and are now offering the Overtime Athletics franchise opportunity to qualified individuals.

The FDD was finalized in October and in 3 months we have sold 3 Franchises: (Atlanta, Seattle, & Anne Arundel County Maryland). We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals looking to become part of a much desired and consistently growing industry – providing much needed youth programs in a structured environment where children can learn, imagine and enjoy.

Our ideal OTA franchisee is someone who:

  • Is someone who has connections to a school district

  • May have been or is a teacher and is seeking another career

  • Enjoys working with children

  • Is organized

  • Is available full-time

  • May have a degree in either education or other course of study

  • Has good time management skills

  • May have business or entrepreneurial experience

  • Is hard-working

The Washington Redskins and Overtime Athletics partnered in 2013 to offer Washington Redskins Kids Flag Football Camps. Going into our 4th Summer with the Redskins, we (Redskins & OTA) have made these summer camps the most popular Flag Football Camps in Northern Virginia and Richmond. Kids that attend our camps receive:

(2) Tickets to a Pre-Season Game

(2) Tickets to training camp @ Bon Secour Washington Redskins Training Camp

(1) Redskins Kids Camp T-Shirt

Our focus is on football education, participation, sportsmanship and FUN. Flag Football is open to Boys & Girls ages 6 – 13. Flag Football is a NON-CONTACT sport. No experience is necessary and EVERYONE plays!

As much I love football, I'm afraid football as we know it will be soon changing. Parents nationwide are facing the question of when or whether to let their child play tackle football are finding refuge in flag football. In this sport, players pull a detachable fabric strip, or flag, attached to the hips of opposing players, rather than tackling them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently recommended expanding non-tackling leaguesas a way to limit exposure to collisions. Two University of Minnesota physicians go further in an editorial to be published in the American Journal of Bioethics early in 2016, saying public schools should end tackle football programs because of the sport’s concussion risks.
